The G.A.S Pro Plus Step Controller – 8 Amp works in the same way as the Pro Step version, but has an extra socket on the unit. You can use this to run a heater which will work alongside the fans to maintain the set temperature. Very handy in the colder months! The extra socket can handle a 2.5kw heater with a load of 13 amps.
The Pro Plus Step Controller is an effective fan controller that eliminates one of the downfalls of AC fan control. The humming and buzzing. Many other fan controllers adjust the fan speed using technology that causes these noises and it can be very irritating. This is especially true in domestic situations at night time. The Pro Plus Step Controller uses solid state relays with digital technology to create a top quality 5 step controller. Humming and buzzing is completely eliminated, even when the fans are running at slow speeds. There is also no clicking between the speed steps.
The dials on the front of the unit allow you to set maximum and minimum fan speeds in denominations of voltage to the fan. At 230v, the fan is at full speed with the lower voltages signifying slower speeds. The third dial is for setting the temperature you want the unit to maintain. Ideally, the probe should be in the middle of the room to get a good average room temperature.
As the name implies, the maximum load for the unit is 8 amps. This is great for medium to large AC fans but may not need such a load if you have smaller fans. There is also an 4 amp version for more smaller scale applications.
