For use with a timer, the Ecotechnics 2 Way Standard Contactor will safely control two HID lighting systems while protecting the timer. Contactors are a grow room essential if you are using High Intensity Discharge lights. If you do not use a contactor your timer will probably fail, causing your lights to be stuck on or off and potentially damaging your crop.
These contactors are wall mountable and have a splash-proof design and come complete with instructions. Please note that contactors require 2 power points to operate. They are an essential safety product that you should not be without! Many growers choose to use High Intensity Discharge lighting in their grow rooms. HID lamps require a large amount of current to flow when they first turn on. As the lamp ages, it requires more and more power to start.
Most people use a 24 hour timer in grow rooms but they are often not suitable for high wattage uses. Under these conditions they normally fail and cause serious issues with the lighting in your grow room. Due to this, contactors switch the power to the lighting system while allowing the timer to do its job of timing control. The 2 Way Standard Contactor is a 13 amp unit will switch on and off up to 2 x 1000 watt lighting units. Timers are sold separately.
