Air Line is the standard for connecting air pumps to air stones. We stock a high quality silicone tube which is good for flexibility and long life. Air Line is see through which allows you to see inside. Obviously you won’t be able to see the air flow but it is rather for checking for things that shouldn’t be there. If the air pump isn’t in a good position, water can siphon back up the tube, into the pump. This can cause irreversible damage which means it would need replacing. This tends to void warranties too due to “mis-use”. To avoid this, ensure the air pump is above the level of the water tank. This makes it much harder for water to go back up the tube, protecting the pump.

What else can I use Air Line for?

As well as aeration of nutrient tanks, Air Line is great for use in Aquariums too. In fact, anywhere that needs an air stone or similar is fine for using with it. It is not really suitable for use as a water irrigation pipe however. Being clear, light can cause algae to develop, feeding on the nutrient solution within. For this purpose, black pipe is best! At Canterbury Hydroponics, we have a range  of aeration products for use in the grow room and beyond. These include the Hailea Air Pumps AC9601 (1 outlet), AC9602 (2 outlet), AC9610 (4 outlet) and AC9630 (8 outlet). If you need more power for more outlets than these, we also carry the Hailea ACO-009E Compressor. For the other end of the pipe we have the Golf Ball Air stone.
