The Alien 4 Pot EasyFeed 22L System is a great gravity feeding set up that will suit the needs of many growers. These systems can grow with you, making it a more efficient way to expand over time, rather than having to buy a new, bigger version. For example, you could start off with a 6 pot system, then add a 22L Easyfeed Module or two to give you more plants. You can continue on, reaching 100 pots or more (just make sure you upgrade the water tank to cope with water demands).
The Alien 4 Pot EasyFeed 22L System is very versatile too, in that you can choose the footprint of the pots. Whether you want a square shape, or all in one line, the pipe is just cut to length to suit. As this is a gravity feeding system, even the pots at the furthest reaches from the tank get plenty of water. No pump here that will struggle to supply those pots.
EasyFeed Pipes
The Alien 4 Pot EasyFeed 22L System uses larger diameter pipe to prevent blockages and ensuring unrestricted water flow. It uses 16mm pipe instead of 4mm or 9mm that other systems use, as well as larger fittings. Scale and other debris will take longer to become a problem in larger pipes. We recommend using a clearing agent to keep pipes clear such as Keep it Clean or Flash Clean.
The ideal media for use in the EasyFeed Fabric pots are soil and coco, or a mixed media such as Ecothrive 70/30 or HydroCoco 60/40. These will hold some water between feedings and as it dries, oxygen flows into the rootzone through the pot. As the water flows to the bottom of the pot, roots will quickly grow downward through the pot. Air pruning will ensure that the roots branch off when they get near the side of the pot. All the oxygen and nutrients mean you’ll quickly have a very impressive root ball.
Feeding scheduling
The Alien 4 Pot EasyFeed 22L System comes with a battery operated EasyFeed Water Timer that sits inline. It will need to be between the first pot and the tank (right by the tank is typical). Using the timer, you can set the interval between when water can flow and when it stops. This could be hourly, daily, every 2 days or even once a week, depending on the plants specific needs. Needing no power sockets for pumps or aerators means the system can go anywhere, even out in the garden. All you need to do is find the perfect balance in feed regularity, and after just check the tank water level and EC. That’s it! For not much work, it’s a great system!
