Root!t Rooting Gel encourages the formation of roots when taking cuttings from a mother plant. Being a gel, it sticks more readily to the stem of a plant and is harder to wash off. This is important as it needs to be in contact with the cut end to stimulate the generation of roots, but also to seal it. Cuttings are at great risk of dehydration shortly after they’re taken, which is why many gardeners remove some leaves. This reduces water loss through too many leaves, but the cut stem can also loss water. Root!t prevents water loss and air getting to the delicate tissues at this critical time in development.
To use, choose your rooting cube and prepare its you usually would. Ensure the small hole in the plug is big enough for the cutting, widening if need be. Shake the bottle well, take off the cap and place the nozzle fairly deep in the hole. Squeeze gently while taking the bottle away to fill the hole with rooting gel, and place the cutting inside. Always replace the cap quickly when not using Root!t Gel. Once all the cuttings are in place, keep them in a propagator in a warm place and mist periodically. Root!t gel won’t dry out unless the plug gets really dry. You can always apply gel around the area where the cutting goes into the plug.
