This high quality Insulated Acoustic Ducting has a layer of noise-reducing insulation that dampens sound. This helps stop air flow noise which can be a problem for the grower. If the plants are growing in an area near a bedroom, the noise can be quite disturbing at night. Acoustic Ducting consists of a layer of acoustic Cultiwool between layers of aluminium ducting. Inside the ducting is a steel wire helix that helps provide flexibility and stability. It also uses a flame retardant adhesive for safety.
Acoustic Ducting is available in 5 and 10 metre lengths in all the usual ducting diameters. They are wrapped and packed under pressure to help minimize the size of the box, making transport easier. Be careful when you open it; It can spring out quickly! For best results, use it on both the intake and outtake fans in your grow room. Both are sources of air flow noise and controlling one without the other is far less effective. For ultimate sound dampening, couple this ducting with a Rigid Silencer.
Alternatives to Acoustic Ducting
At Canterbury Hydroponics, we have a range of other ducting options to suit your needs. Aluminium Ducting is the cheapest version we have and is still one of the most popular. It is simply a foil coat over a wire helix that is very easy to use and highly flexible. It can be a little weak for some users and has no sound dampening properties. Black Combi Ducting is aluminium ducting with a black plastic coating to reinforce the walls. It is still very flexible, stronger than the basic ducting, but again, has no sound insulation. Finally, Ultra Silent Ducting is a similar construction to Acoustic Ducting, but uses a different material to stop noise. You can find all of our ducting products and other accessories such as Ducting Clips, A.V Clips and tapes (Foil, Cloth and X-Weave) on our website, here.
